Popin Cooking Hobby? Really?

Is this a new revolution to cooking (some are not edible.. mind you) or a single person's hobby gone wrong?

They call this, Popin Cooking.. if you have no idea what it is, please view the following videos.

In my opinion, this is definitely not a revolution of cooking or not that it is even edible. Even if it were to be edible, that's only sufficient to feed an ant.

I first saw this online and it looked fascinating as it reminded me of PlayDoh. It's fun to play with PlayDoh for their variety of colors and the array of real life scale size things you can creatively do out of their range of toys now. Popin cooking is fascinating (at first) but after watching more videos, I find the tiny scale "kitchen" toy and use soda liquid as "boiling water" or "sizzling oil" looks too weird for anyone to play with. Kids don't have that accurate hand coordinations to carry out the intricate food prep procedures and the size of the items are too small for an adult hand.

It makes me really wonder what is this so call toy or hobby is invented for..

This is an ironic way to treat it as a hobby that eventually makes you feel lonelier than ever..

Black Friday Loots

:: Black Friday ::

Similar to what the Great Singapore Sale can do to Singaporeans but in my opinion, the Black Friday sale is far better. This happens only once a year during Thanksgiving and I have waited a whole year for it and 3 weeks to have everything shipped back. ^.^

The loots that just arrived and it spilt all over my bedroom corridor.

Books are a very worthy buy in the US and especially at the Thrifty Stores. I got both the books at less than $10. :) Not to mention, the hard cover for the orange book behind is not seen in sg.

ELF, the cheapest cosmetic brand in the US with items mostly at USD. I manage to get it with a promo of 50% off on the second item. One of those HD powder in sg can easily cost a $60 and above. I got everything here for approx. USD25.

Lastly, blu rays is a must buy for us. :) This is the biggest loot of movie blu rays for us that even the ones we got from US is not comparable to this.

Galaxy S2 VS. iPhone 4

It's been 2 weeks since I started using the Samsung Galaxy SII. I cannot quite put my heart down on which is better or maybe it's like a long lasting love that you cannot put aside.

My 2 winter white loves. Something about white phones that set the looks as far as a kampong length from the usual boring black mobiles. It makes a phone look more sleek and chic without the worry of it getting dirty. How perfect is that?

Even with the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note, I will recommend that you bite your teeth and go to sleep earlier every night so time can pass by faster to the official launch of the white version.

Initially, I was intrigued by my friend's HTC phones or perhaps the flexibility of Android. Sadly, HTC does not deliver an all rounded phone package. From a girl's perspective, it has zero design... not even the white phones in their series are attractive. The heavy weight may not be a plus point for those who yearns for light weight phones and not to mention the iPhone maybe just as heavy but still they did not forget to make it a good looker. It's like seeing a macho man with untamed hair and unkept hygiene.

I will say that the Samsung Galaxy SII and the iPhone 4/4S are very very strong competitors with each other. It is hard to say who is the better player but they each have their pros and cons.

1. Screen / Size

The first thing that strikes me is the size of the screen.. of cos the Galaxy SII has a bigger screen but they also makes it like a miniature of their LED TVs. The colors, vibrancy, brightness is amazing but it can appear fake for those who prefers the natural shades of color. Still for a phone, it is very attractive and I have encounters on a side by side comparison for the same picture - Galaxy SII makes it look so much better. The size of the screen also makes it easier for viewing and who knows maybe the potential iPhone 5 will have an upsized screen. ^^

Although the phone dimensions are bigger but it is actually slimmer than the iPhone 4 and lighter. They choose a good combination of physical and aesthetic factors to make it a perfect match altogether. iPhone on the other hand has a good size that does not make you think that the phone is going to slip off your hands anytime. It has the feel of metal that makes it more solid and the weight makes its a feel good factor on your hands.

For this I prefer the Galaxy SII as I watch a videos and love browsing through picture on the phone. It is also an eye catcher to people beside me as they marvel at the sharp colors that it can deliver.

Another factor on the physical element of the two phones is the position of the lock buttons. I find that the lock button on the Galaxy II is at a place where you will accidentally press onto the volume buttons as well. The way the hand is position when you try to lock your phone that you may end up lowering or increasing the volume of your ringtone. Whereas you tend not to press onto other buttons when you are locking the iPhone.

2. Camera

The iPhone 4S will be a better comparison for the camera so I can only comment that the camera on the Galaxy SII is quite fast in it's response and most of the time deliver sharp pictures. Especially when I am taking picture in motion, it can mostly capture it well as compared to my iPhone. Even with flash on white surface, I am able to capture the words and there is little reflection of the white on the photo. I was trying to capture a close up of the words on a piece of paper and I was amazed at how clear it was on the first take. Another difference between the 2 cameras is that iPhone lives up to it's reputation to be a fuss free phone and the camera settings are mostly quite automatic. The Samsung allows you to specifically set the camera with various functions from the exposure, white balance to the iso, etc.

3. Apple OS VS. Android

They are similar in certain ways but each has their own characteristics. The Apple OS is so convenient in several ways. You can conveniently download your apps from the app store without having to go through the trial and error phrase. The reviews on the app store is more accurate and due to the high amount of iPhone users worldwide, you get to read more reviews before deciding to download. They conveniently lets you choose the top rated ones and you do not have to go through all 100 of them like on Android Market.

On the other hand, the Android Market provides free apps that maybe payable on the Apple store. Still I realised that some are not really that free and you just got to deal with the ads in the app. Still they have the features of the full paid apps in Apple store. It is also very easy to get "jailbroken" apps onto your android phones. All it takes is a one night of usage and I have already set up my phone, downloaded several apps that included the jailbroken ones as well.

4. User Friendly

With regards to this factor, they are of a close fight but I do find some differences in them that is quite hard to describe. For instance, in comparison of 2 Android phones of different models and they can have quite a different user interface to it. I was originally playing around with a few cheaper models of Android phones and I clearly wanted to trashed them into the bin. They are incredibly complicating to use as a first timer and I can just understand why the aunties or uncles will prefer the iPhone.

It maybe coincidental that somehow the more expensive or so call better models of the Android phones have almost quite a similar interface as the iPhone. The only difference is the number of customisable features in an Android. You can change almost anything from each individual font, placement, colors, format, whatever.. Till an extent that you really wonder how much you use those features. I use them but not in that extend.

So for those who love to change every bit of their phone display or feature, the Android maybe in your favor. For the general user who just want to have the capability of choices for the main functions, iPhone is the way to go.

5. Price
The price tag speaks for itself...

Since I am not too technical person, I cannot comment a lot into details on everything about the phone. These are just some of the general guidelines for a general view of it. ^.^

I was give some forms to fill up to make sure ur in good health and know more about my past beauty salon experience.

Then, the lady has since disappeared till i can finish reading whatever that is left on the table now, surf facebook, etc. Zz ok its not as bad as my wait at Dr Chan clinic that has a minimum 1hr wait. Still...

I finally get to use the gift card bought at a rather good price and I thought there be less people so i don't have to wait for long..

Just for more information, u cab get free treatments when u recommend friends and the more referrals, the better. :)

Typhoon Roke #15

I find out how inefficient Japanese can be with the announcement of disasters heading their way. For a foreigner living on their land with no knowledge of understanding Japanese, I suggest reading up on newspapers on abroad.

If there had not been notices put up at the restaurant last night about the typhoon, I had no idea. To think that I even went out in the rain to get snacks before I knew about it. Today when the newspaper came, it was not about the approach of the typhoon but what disasters it had created yesterday along the low lying areas of Nagoya. Even as I flipped through The Japan Times from yesterday, I read no news or warning about the typhoon. -.-"

Anyway, the typhoon is as of now hitting Nagoya as I type. I can hear the wind blowing against the glass and the rain has never stopped since yesterday morning. I looked out to see if there were Japanese crazy enough to walk around in that weather and there were none. During the last typhoon, people were still wondering around even though their umbrellas were flipped inside out by the wind. Maybe they are so numb to such weather that it doesn't matter in their life anymore..

An hour around, that was where the typhoon was located - right at the corners of Japan. Obviously, with the strong winds now, it is definitely hitting the mainland already. I suppose after today, it will be off to the other areas of Japan.

Apparently, there are a few people dead from the typhoon already and I suppose there maybe more news coming up tonight. At the breakfast table this morning, there were still people trying to find ways to fly out from other areas. Unless you're prepared to take a long bus ride out, otherwise the trains have stopped moving. I say it's better to just wait for it to go away since it will not be staying for long. Flight will most likely resume tomorrow morning.

What Is The Right Bag?

I felt like doing this post after seeing this..

It's a simple boston shaped bag that can probably be used as an overnight bag as well. The colors for their range are subtle yet amazing. There is something about rustic looking bags that I love about and it shows in a few of my bags that I have. Sadly, I'm not home yet to show them since I'm now stuck in Japan. Anyway, I love the rusty brown shade on this bag and the low key Y that symbolises the brand. If you haven't known, it's Yves Saint Laurent. The only thing I have of YSL is the free tote in the Jap magazine. I'm just not tempted to part with thousands of dollars for their designs even though I love how it looks.

A few days ago, I was cracking my brains out on bags. I had the urge of getting one but in the midst of choosing, I got lost along the way. Bags are costly and you wouldn't want to make the wrong decision on one but at the same time, it's not a solution to find a cheap bag that breaks every other month that you end up buying more bags which never lasts.

I was thinking of the Speedy and the Tivoli for dayssssss .. I always hear about the classic look of the design and the long lasting quality of it.

This is the speedy 35 and my love for big bags are also apparent in the smaller shaped ones. I think the 35 is a good size for people who carry quite some stuff around. I always carry an umbrella with me, an organiser and sometimes a bottle that usually take up quite some space. Not to mention, a small purse don't always fit along wallet inside. I tried the 30 at the store but it did not look that big even on my 5ft 1" height. Those with as petite a frame as me can go for the 35 and not worry that it's going to be huge but I don't guarantee that it won't weigh u down too. I have a bag similar to this size and when it's 3/4 full, my arms ache after a day of shopping. The good thing is you can get a strap for this bag and sling it across or go for the newer version that has it attached to the sides.

In comparison, this will be better than getting the extra strap for the old speedy. It will hold the shape of the bag better and the strap will be more comfortable on your shoulders.

I was very tempted by this bag with the fold in the middle that caught my attention. The LV monogram can easily look old with the other styles but the fold and unusual downward shape makes it different from the older looks. The straps are adjustable for hand and shoulder carry but I personally think it will be weird if you make it short. Overtime, the bottom of the strap will look too long beyond the buckle and it curls upwards as the leather softens.

It is very spacious with a wide bottom and the opening is so big you can fit a dog in it. The zipper is a bad point of the bag besides how heavy it will be when it's filled up. I cannot smoothly open the zipper with one hand but maybe for places with pickpockets, it's a good thing. The straps are like the speedy, round and thick. I know it's more attractive than flat handles but very soon it is going to lead to shoulder pains and backaches.

The dimensions of the bag is similar to the medium Longchamp as I compared them side by side at the store. However, with the Longchamp light weight material - the LV weighs a ton as compared to it. It is quite big for someone my size and it is more of the weight that turns me off.

I recently had a different take on Celine when they launched this bag and seeing it i real made it more stunning. The first time I saw this bag was actually an inspired bag sold online without any brand. I kept seeing it and wondered why that design was becoming so popular. Only when saw one lady who casually walked into the lounge one night as I was surfing away on my Mac that I realised the reason behind it.

It has quite a few colors and some in very bright shades. Still, a bag in black that attracts my attentions deserves a round of applause. The soft, leather and unusual flare out shape by the side, explained why they called it the luggage bag.

Things I note while choosing my bags:

- Design / Style / Size / Colours
- Comfort
- Price
- Functionality
- Brand and how it portrays itself to be

It is in no particular order as either one of the factor influences the other and sometimes if a design attracts me enough, I may forgo comfort or likewise.

Another good example is the Birkin bag. In my opinion, it is the Queen of all Bags (like the Lamborghini of cars) and I admire how the brand has uphold it's quality, services and status of their name. However, on the realistic side such as the exorbitant price and the style of the bag that has not changed for many many years. I find the shape too simple and as much as the phrase, "Simplicity has it's own beauty".. I don't think it has to cost me over 15grand for it. I love simple bags to but perhaps with a bit of edge to it. The Birkin is far too simple but I believe there are always people who love that shape. If one day, I were to buy it.. I will pretty much admit that it's the brand and toxicity of the smell of it's quality leather.

My favourite is still the Blue Jean Birkin bag. If it's going to be simple, it better have eye catching colours.

The Day I Had Lunch With Typhoon Talas #12

A week ago, there were reports of a typhoon hitting Japan but most of the time as I switched onto CNN - it was Hurricane Irene. The local news were in Japanese with no english subtitles but my Godma in Tokyo would keep me updated. :)

The day before I just stocked up on some simple food, preserve vegetables, milk, water, tea, etc. As much as the weather was predicted to be a 1 or 2 day event, I'm not about to give any chances to mother nature. Weather like woman are sometimes unpredictable, why do you thing it's called mother nature? Lol! Just saying..

Yesterday (Friday), the stations were less crowded and for once I could easily walked through to the Ramen shop. People were hiding at home or left the day before as the winds were blowing by morning and it was gloomy from far away. By afternoon, rain was pouring down for a short while and later the endless movements of clouds passed by. I was sitting by the lounge on the 36th floor for 3 hours watching as the clouds were strongly blown along by the wind. The hotel staff peered out the window for a short while to check on any changes in the weather. Maybe he was worried that he would not be able to get home after his shift and not to mentioned the more affected areas of Japan were already raining continuously by then. At 8pm, the coastal areas have notice a rise in water level and the rain caused many low lying area to flood. It was reported that a few curious people who did silly things were missing in the storm. 1 went out to surf and the other was an old man who went to the river to check on the water level, both went missing.

I turned on the TV to check on the progress of the typhoon during midnight as it was the projected time to hit. It was moving so slow that the timing kept changing from Saturday to Friday then back to Saturday. There were live update predictions of the typhoon movement at the corner of the screen and by 1am, it finally hit parts of the coastal regions. The wind by that time was blowing loudly outside my window and it started raining. Throughout the night, the walls creaked louder by the hour and I could hardly sleep. Tossed and turned a dozen times along with the louder snoring sounds of Mr. Goh, I was going crazy with the lack of sleep.

At 8 am, I looked out the window and a quiet city greeted me. There was no trains, no people walking around and the wind was still strong. A few cars were moving around and occasionally I hear the siren went off.

Typhoon #12 at 1100hours, Saturday

It's 11am as I type, the weather is erratic and inconsistent all the time. I notice trains moving and there are people walking around with umbrellas. I can't imagine how people can still walk downstairs as the winds are so unpredicted and comes at sudden gusts. It is sunny one moment and the next it is raining with strong winds. I suppose it is such unpredictability that causes people to let down their guts to think it's fine to go out. The TV constantly reports on the progress and damage it has caused at the direct hit places as I await the arrival of the typhoon in Nagoya.

The weather is said to be fine by Monday and I believe mother nature has been kind to us. :)

I still enjoy watching fireworks at home. ^.^ The NDP programme feels quite touching this year. <3<3

Before that, I shall spend a whole day with my favourite niece. :) Her new 小丸子 hairstyle.. and bored, waiting to go out.

Love the fireworks ^.^ but of coz the iphone is not a good camera for it.

We did a fashion shoit for Jovie after the fireworks. Lol! Nah.. She just sort of played along with us when we whipped out our cameras.

A fun day with my niece and end of her photography session. :)

Gatsby Bubble Hair Dye (Foam)

:: Gatsby Bubble Hair Dye Review ::

A lot of bubble hair dyes are being launched in sg now and I was deliberating between this and the Beauty Labo selection. I originally wanted to try Hoyu but since I had a new haircut, I needed a lighter shade of colour to give it a more fashionable change.

:: Almond Ash ::

I got this colour because of the shade of brown with the ash tint on it. On the hair shade colour printed on the box, it had a grey tint on the colour. Included with it is the developer, colour solution, nozzle and gloves. I think guys are lazier when it comes to colouring hair. So, maybe that's why they don't include the hair treatment. LOL! I'm just saying...

First of all, remember to use the gloves if you're clumsy with the colourants. It is a rubber texture and I believe it will fit most average hand sizes. My hand is quite small but it's still comfortable as compared to those that provide super large transparent gloves.

Pour the colourant into the solution and you will notice that the texture is different from Prettia. It has a thicker, gel-like texture instead.

When the colourant goes in, you can significantly notice how heavy it is due to the texture. It's separated from the developer that is push to the top. ^o^

Shake it up.. I followed the instruction on the booklet but I will advise to shake it differently. Instead of shaking it up and down forcefully, use a back and forth mixing method instead. It will take a little while more but there will be lesser bubbles at the end. In that way, your mixture has space to blend together.

See what I mean? When you shake it violently, all you get is bubbles and it's not going to be helpful when you squeeze it out.

Now, you change to the nozzle given. At this point, when you squeeze it to your hair, you may be anticipating foam oozing out like how Prettia works. Wrong!

You place the nozzle through your hair and squeeze it. The gel like texture will be something like what you see above. The bubbles are just due to the violent shaking that results with it but in actual fact, it's gel. It may drip very quickly so I will advise massaging with every squeeze.

I can't tell you how amazingly foamy it is and the foam is not the kind of foam you see on Prettia that feels watery and disappears shortly. The foam is bouncy and stiff that holds like mousse.

Turn your hair upside down and it will not even fall! Wow!

After some massaging, your hair will be super foamed up.. it's quite a good amount and the foam actually stays there.

After 20 minutes, the foam is still there and it turns into blue... I left it on for almost 30minutes and I thought it was looking a little light. After washing it off, the hair felt quite dry. I had used the first gen of their hair dyes before and it's really very bad for the scalp coz I think they have bleach in it. The foam one hurts a bit but after awhile you don't feel it. However, they are both as drying to the hair. I used a colour treatment after that.

:: Before & After ::

On the left, I used the Loreal Excellence Mousse dye that is not available here but you can get it in the US. The colour is more mahogany brown and darker since I used a medium brown shade. On the right is the Gatsby colour and you can see that it is not as light as expected. I suppose it's due to my darker shade of colour before that and it looked quite similar except that the shade is slightly lighter and with a more yellow tint to it. I am hoping to go lighter than that but I pretty much got sick of the Prettia platinum beige. If you like to go lighter with that same yellow base, I recommend that you go for that.

Conclusion?

Colour wise, Gatsby is still considered accurate with their colour shade. When I looked at the colour on the doll picture on the box, it's the same as mine. LOL! I believe if you lighten your hair further before using it, you may see more of the ash tones. The brown base is nice and subtle that does not give those copperish feel. They are also priced cheaper than the other bubble dyes with a very easy to use nozzle. The foam is to die for and one of the best texture that I have experience so far with the bubble dyes. I think the other brands should try to get that really creamy foam texture as well.

Weekends Once Again

It's amazing how time passed by at a blink of an eye and at the end of a busy day, it's the weekends already.

The postmen came by one after another.. DHL, Singpost, Eurasia... and so did my loots. ;p i'm gonna have to ban myself from shopping for now. -.-

:: Loots ::

Huge bling on my toe, the quality is fine but workmanship.. Ahh well. I'm just gonna stick with getting shoes here. I think it's still better to try them out personally at the store.

I got 2 pairs from Taiwan and this is full black sequins with gold trimmings. The ribbon was kind of slanted but the overall is okay.

That was a last item that I promised myself while browsing gmkt. One thing that I learnt is don't always trust all the reviews online. Lol! The colours were nice and size was just a little not so accurate. The shape at the front was awkwardly fat and round while the sides were too narrow. It's still wearable and way cheaper than crocs.

:: OFTD ::

I'm trying to add other stuff besides t-shirts for a change but I just love baggy clothes. They're comfortable and versatile in many ways. The inside is a flare inner dress but it's good enough to wear it on it's own. If you don't want it to look too boring then u may add another layer like what I did. Pink always adds a feminine touch and some glow to the complexion. :)

Monday Blues

What is it about Mondays that make you feel so blue? I'm feeling a tad restless today... on some days I love to stay in and do my stuff while today, I'm lost and not know what to do. -.-"

I've been finding some enjoyment in cooking these days and I've been having sandwiches for lunch for days. :) I find it to be quite filling, easy to make and nutritious all in one.

This is my "big mac" sandwich that I have generously added quite some ingredients. lol! There's like ham, lots of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, garlic and mushroom. I think it's quite a good meal for those who are looking to lose weight. I love to toast the bread to make it crispy and all. You can also add bacon to give it more taste but avoid it if you want to lose weight. This sandwich actually kept me full for a good 5 hours.

A weekend spent with my fashionable niece ^.^

We dropped by Uniqlo and found a super great sale going on. I'm not sure if it's still on or not but do go and grab some stuff. I got this crop jeans after a tip off from my twin. It's just $19.90 as compared to the retail price of $49.90. The darker colors were even cheaper at $14.90 but light colors would make me fleshier.. I'm too thin already. -.-" I also got a white scoop neck t-shirt at $7.90. It is that dry material that is so in right now and it helps to keep you cool on hot days. I reckon they are clearing the summer apparels to bring in fall clothings. It's a bit early but if it's a sale then it doesn't really matter. LOL! The leggings if I remember seeing were at $14.90.

I got this from GMarket and I think it's really awesome! You can put up to 6 bags on this organizer and I use it at the corner of the wardrobe. It is good if you have a bit more space for this if you have bags that are not as flat or foldable. By the way, those bags are not mine.. lol! It's a sample picture from the seller... The quality is acceptable and quite tough. Although I felt that it could be cheaper but I had not seen that around.. so naturally you pay a bit more.

Is this cute or what? Not only does it keep your earphone cables need but there is a clip behind that I use it on my bag. I don't have to ransack around or tug at the cable to know where my phone is. Not to mention, it has all the kitty cuteness on it. :)

Guilt Sets In

It's been so long since I last blogged about anything! I'm so guilty to have neglected this space for ohhh so long.

Recently, I've been having green hands and doing my own plants. From a terrarium, I have moved onto herb gardening. Well, I don't have a garden so I grow herbs in a small pot. My twin was sweet enough to get some for me from the nursery. ^.^ Ooowwwww!! Yes, you! Miss Oooowwwww... LOL!!!

After so many days, I finally see a sprout and I am so excited!! I hope more will be popping out soon as they give quite a few seeds and having just one will not be enough.

Staying Awake..

I need to blog to stay awake but my eyes decides otherwise. I've been falling ill for the same reasons, bad food? virus?

During my US trip in March, I had food poisoning that left me sick for over a week and it's a good thing Joe was around to do the cooking for me. Now he declares himself to be the best porridge maker. Lol! I got pricked all over at the hospital with the blood test and the IV drip.

After my Taiwan trip, I had dinner with a couple of friends and I SERIOUSLY hate restaurants for adding in things that should not be in the dish to begin with. For example, I love my water chestnut drink to be sweet.. not with herbs in it. I love my dessert sweet.. and not 101% bitter with something that taste like ginseng. I can only think of that possibility that caused my "downfall".. I literally had to run to the toilet several times the next morning and I could feel the water drained out of me for the rest of the day. I quickly remembered what my US doctor told me and when I felt some energy back in me, I rushed to the supermarket opposite and got myself some sports drink. My lips were dry and all I wanted to do was sleep the whole day. My body now is aching from all the sleeping and I'm still exhausted since I have not really had a proper meal. Joe just happened to fly off right when I felt ill.. sigh.. but he's sweet enough to look after me through Skype.

Ok, my concentration is at it's lowest .. so I will have to cut off my blogging and do something more relaxing.

iPad 2

To be able to get the iPad 2 is a luxury itself but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Queues form as early as 1 or 2 am for those who wants an iPad 2 the second the store opens. I even thought that the queue for the iPhone 4 was insane back home or is it a marketing gimmick on their side. (hmm...)

Anyway, the only luxury for the iPad that I heard of was the designer iPad cases at he luxury boutiques.

iPad Cases from Louis Vuitton, I personally did not like the cases (same goes with the Gucci, etc.) as they were all slot in designs. I asked the staff at the boutique and they claimed that the flip cases on the first iPad by Apple had some copyright (blar blar). They would have to pay costly amounts to have their cases designed in that manner.

You can see that the Gucci case has the same slot in design except for the strap on top to prevent the iPad from accidental slipping.

Yet another similar design by Bottega and it boils down to the brand that you prefer.

Now, it's time for what real luxury for the iPad is about..

I will love to carry a Chanel case but I find that with us ladies lugging onto a designer bag and hand carry another designer case, we pretty much have to multi-task on the number of purses we have to juggle with just 2 hands.

It's a super late post but better late than never.. as I sit here eating my microwave lunch, what not better to do than to upload old logs of my trips to distract myself from how yucky the lunch taste coz the microwave food has to go before we leave for somewhere else.

My last Christmas and New Year was spent in Seoul Korea. It was one of those ideal winter holidays when you could see a city covered with white snow that was perfect for the festive holidays.

The pictures are way more than my other trips and I shall have to compile them together before my post goes into infinity.

Time flies so fast that you just wish there's more time. It was just 10 months ago that I started the wedding plans.

Just an hour ago, the bed has been set and all ready for the big day. As I look back, I wish time will pause itself as I savour every moment of the madness that has been going on. The people that I have worked with are incredible and I hope we will remain as great friends in the future ahead. :)

The day I took the oath for the rom cert. Surprisingly, i enjoyed it even though it was merely 10 minutes and my body was exhausted from just an hour sleep the night before.

Tradition should be kept for those who believe. ^.^

Today's the day of the Chinese customary gift exchange and I can smell the preparation of food amidst the kitchen. The months of preparation and research has finally resulted in a day for sharing of well wishes between two families and a (soon to be) married couple.

You may ask. "Why the hassle in all these preparations?" These are traditions passed down through generations and it all boils down to a blissful marriage between 2 people.

Many like I am confused with the various styles followed by different dialects. Not to worried, as there are always professionals to solve that brain cracking issue. :)

The Wedding Shop

As the name of the shop suggest, The Wedding Shop. They are professionals for all procesures for what is traditionally called, 過大禮 (guo da li). Just tell them your dialects and they will explain the details to you with even a manual included with their various packages. Although I will suggest that you ask in further details as not every single thing is written. However, the staff are friendly and they are more than willing to help you out.

For those budget conscious couples, they may choose to buy them separately from other shops. Not all items are cheap but being a one stop shop for most of the important items, they are perfect for busy couples. The other good thing is that they pack your items nicely with packagings made for the individual items included.

The shop is at Bedok Point, level 2.

These are the girls items to be exchanged with the man's family. The ribbons are personally tied by me and the 喜喜 sticker is placed on most items. The tea cup set, towels, table lamps and bed linen are separately bought. Reason being, I'm still quite a modern bride and I will love to use it even after the customary is over. Chic designs and traditions are combined to give us the best of both worlds.

Baskets are free to rent from the shop and it looks very new with contrast of black and bright red with hand painted floral design.

It's Been Awhile

I'm so slow on my updates these days... it's mad crazy busy and I just don't have much time to think about anything. Wedding preps are endless, work is as usual and the fact that I have to do all the preps myself has been quite tiring. Still, the process will be a memory that none other can replace.

It's still Chinese New Year.. so Gong Hei Fa Choi! :)

I bought quite a number of new clothes for cny when initially I thought I had none. I even have 2 new tops that are a little loose and I can't wear them out..

My new shoes but they are pinching me at the moment.. sobs

Daiso lunch.. I got the instant rice to try and the miso soup is also from Daiso. Just a simple meal when I'm in a rush..

I need healthy water for good digestion ^.^ Now I don't have to boil water yeah!

This is for our new room. I ordered it from Korea and I'm so loving it. ^.^

I'm not a traditional girl.. so of cos I won't be one to follow the tradition to buy something corny.. So as our wedding mugs, this is what I got.

The words already differentiated the mugs and there is a lid that keeps the dust off my water. When I need my tea, I can still stir it with the stirrer included.

Trip... Bangkok Thailand

Can you believe it's my first trip to Bangkok? Well, it's a sponsored trip (not inclusive of the shopping I did), so who would resist that. I was a "tour guide" for my godma and off we went on a funfilled 3D2N in Bkk.

Travel tip #1 :

Going to nearby places that takes no more than 2 hours does not require a queen size seat. So travelling by budget airlines are the best and more economical way. Tiger is usually one of the cheapest but do be careful of the tax charges. I found it to be even more than Jetstar. Airasia is somewhere in the middle with not the cheapest tickets but they don't compromise on the comfort. Jetstar (in my opinion) has the most comfortable seats that even Sq should consider changing theirs as well. My back did not ache at all even though it was not reclined. There was back support and I seriously think SQ should consider that seriously.

Eventually, I picked Jetstar as Tiger had a bad reputation for cancellation or delay of flights (read it through forums) and Airasia wasn't any cheaper.

Travel tip #2 :

Always book budget air when there are promotions and you will get some of the best deals in town. I once saw tickets to bkk at $150 with tax. If you just had to go then you be paying around $300++.

Travel tip #3 :

If there are 4 of you, travelling by Taxi is not too bad or you may take the train from the Airport as it's way cheaper. :)

I always loved to watch the windows as the taxi drives towards the hotel. That way, I can absorb the atmosphere of the new city that I'm heading towards.

Travel tip #3,

Go online and do research on the recommended hotels. You may choose them according to convenience or price. I know how some are tight on budget, so you may still go for the cheaper hotels but you end up spending more time travelling to the places that you want to go.

As we dropped at the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, I was surprised at how plain the front building looked but it was bustling with tourist. After searching through the internet, I decided that Baiyoke Sky was a good place to stay for a first timer. It's not the most expensive hotel and neither was it cheap. Look at the tourist waiting to check into the hotel and as I queued, a Caucasian looking staff came and checked my booking. After 5 minutes, we were seated at the table next to the counter and given a sweet surprise.

Due to overbooking of the hotel, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite on the ladies floor. How fantastic is that? Please let me warn you that there's no reception on the upper floors. Mind you I was on the 65 floor.. ah huh.. I'm segmented away from the digital world. >.<

Look at how huge the room looked! It's just the bed area and on the opposite side is the sofa and coffee table.

On the other side of the room was a small dining area and the whole front window would give you an amazing view of bkk. Sadly, the decor was a little old and the room was a little dark. I realised that I did not take the toilet but I assure you, it's huge! It's big enough for you to do yoga in there.

Time to head out and I crossed over to Platinum Mall where clothes went at wholesale prices if you bought at least 3 pieces. It's a 5mins walk and there was another wholesale area that looked like Bugis Village.

Seriously hungry by then and we had our lunch at the foodcourt on the top floor.

Makes you feel like you're in Singapore and you buy coupons to get your meal.

My first meal was a beef beehoon soup.. It's yum yum good! The good was so flavourful and the ingredients were fresh.

I took a long walk to the skytrain.. sigh, I thought I almost died.

You can conveniently get tickets at this machine and it is based on the area that you're going.

Here comes the train :) It's probably the best way to travel around bkk but it can get crowded during peak hours.

Who doesn't go to MBK?! It's a must go in bkk and it's an easy train ride away. You may also take a tuk tuk and as foreigners, we more or less pay a bit more than the locals.

Look at the amount of things in one mall.. tons of stores and floors after floors of hardcore shopping.

Bags.. goldsmith shops.. food..

If you like to catch a movie, go all the way up. :)

I went to this place to do a little charity.. you may consider it while you're there.

You go to the side where there are rows and rows of chairs, fill in a form with you name. Pass a donation money over and if you look closer at the back of the area, there are yellow "boxes". Those are coffins that are donated to the poor, it's the 5 one within these 2 years.

You may then burn the slip of paper after praying at the alter in the other room.

Back to the room on the ladies floor.. :)

It was locked by a door that could only be accessed through the room key.

Just the first day and the loots are endless.

Room service for the first night as we're all super exhausted after a long day. Mine was a omelette wrapped phat thai. It looks pretty and taste absolutely good. That's what I love about Thailand. Room service is affordable and tasty.

Tom yum soup was the next amazing dish invented.. I loved only those in Thailand. It's a must order dish on the menu.

Thai milk tea was nice but too sweet. I could easily make 2 glasses with a whole cup of ice and it still tasted sweet. Still I loved it and it's a must have when I'm in thailand. Just needed someone to share it with me.

.. and my godma actually told me she only wan Caramel custard.. RIGHT! The next thing I knew, the soup and noodles were clean off the plate.

So she ordered another serving of phat thai and I recommended the fish cake as finger food. I was super full after all that food that it was so difficult to sleep. Not to mention, I was so exhausted and the next day we had a day of temple visits.

Next morning, I could still feel the Supper/Dinner in my stomach.. but I still ate some breakfast to pull through the day. So up we went to the 77th floor for the awesome food and breath takeing view.

That was the observation deck and the morning sun made it even better.

There were stairs that led up or down and we actually had breakfast on the 2 different floors on the 2 seperate mornings.

My favourite breakfast.. :) I'm very american when it came to breakfast. I wanted to make toast but I settled for the egg toast coz it's faster. ;p

Care for a ride on a hot air balloon..

After an hour or so, we were off for our Temple visits. First stop, the Golden Buddha.

The temple was gorgeous but it felt very commercialised as well.

It was also super crowded that day..

There were food stalls that lined the streets within o_o

At a corner, there were amulets for sale at a counter in the temple. You may donate the amount stated on the item and bring home the blessings. :)

Gold Gold Gold, how shiny it was..

I was amazed that such "toys" were sold in Thailand.

Next stop, Royal Palace and the Emerald Buddha Temple.

It was hard to get in and do remember to wear covered shoes and long pants to cover up. There were like people hunting down tourist to buy Sarongs to wrap themselves up. It was also not cheap and the guards were rude. While waiting for the time to enter the temple, there was a Caucasian that was a persuasive sarong seller and she actually bothered to bargain with her. In the end, she bought it at a cheaper price and obviously both of them were no longer delighted. I overheard her husband asking her why she bought it and she actually got it to stop her harassment. No way I would do that in my life. In the end, she did not even had to wear it to enter.

The decor was lovely and intricate.

There was a private ceremoney going on that day and we were not allowed to step into the area. :(

Off to the next destination, the place that I'm wanting to go. :) It was my main purpose for the trip.

Ta nah~ my aim for the trip was to come pray at the Rahu temple.

To some it maybe a little scary but to me, it's where I want to find my inner peace. :)

By the side, you can find the thing that you need for prayer and make a donation for those items.

The 8 things that I got as offerings to Lahu and they were all black. Coz Rahu favourite color is black. :) I even wore black there that day.

I also added some bling bling to the small statue at the side. <3 it.

Next stop, Jim Thompson. My godma is a fan of this brand.. I'm just admiring the architecture.

It's so pretty to be living in this place.

After spending an hour in Jim Thompson.. I thought I was going to fall asleep in there LOL! We walked a short distance to mbk for another round of shopping at Naraya and we saw Thai boxing!!

Day 3 Morning.. final day to have breakfast with that amazing view. So better keep a momento yes?

Pumpkin soup? Sorry I kinda forgot what it was but it looked like it. Anyway it was Yum to the max. Never had I said that breakfast at the hotel was great in all my trips so far. So, if you're staying at Baiyoke sky, please go enjoy the spread.

My all american breakfast, bacon a must have, sausage for more protein, waffle for some energy and the eggs... well what's breakfast without eggs?

There was also a choice of Jap food, wow!

Fruits was a must have in Thailand and I was surprised that I only had on pineapple at a roadside store for all the days. Sadly the hotel's pineapple was not impressive.

The small tangerine was extremely good though. :) Tangerine with a view ^.^

That's how small it was.. not even half the size of my pinkie finger.

Off to Siam Paragon.. if you're looking for some designer apparels that are unique, drop by the building next to Siam paragon. I was quite impressed with the clothes there but not the price tags though.

It was time to go home and I realised theres a golf area in the hotel. You can be shooting balls at mid sky level. Nice!

Busy Times

It's going to be a busy time till end next week.

I still have tons to pack and moving house is no joke. Gosh! I have a whole day of work tomorrow and more reports to complete tonight. Errands are still not done today and more reports to do tomorrow. I gotta book tix for a short trip next week and it will eat into my packing time and I resort to packing all my work in the remaining 2-3 days available. Then I have to start moving next week. Omg! So many things happening within a week.. it's exhausting~

So I be looking forward to the short trip next week. :)

New iPad Case, Cara

I finally got a new iPad case and I'm loving it. The only worry I have is that it is white but other than that, it's a well designed cover with the consumer in mind. Of coz, there are some little flaws with it. ^.^

:: Cara iPad Case ::

Presenting to you the Cara iPad case that I got for $69.90.. I had a 10% off for it. It's slightly more expensive than the Apple case but definitely nicer in looks. The freebies that come with the case was also more and quite useful.

The front of the case is like a turtle shell design with a glossy finish. It looks chic and I can almost imagine crystals on it. Ok, I shall not have crazy ideas for now. Lol! If you notice the sides where the buttons are positioned, they are covered by the soft silicon like material with precisely measured to fit nicely into the "pockets". You can accurately press on it without much effort.

It is a folio design and you will a white surface on the inside and it has a non-slip silicon feel as well. Usually when you're playing with your iPad, you will fold it down backwards and it will be resting on the table. So, it will not slip as you play with it.

The back of the case is also the same non slip material. When you decide not to play, you will also placed the back on the table or the stand provided. So it will also prevent the iPad from slipping.

This is the stand and it comes in 2 colors.. sadly, there is a flaw with it. There are games that we play in a horizontal manner and if you notice, there is not stand on the case itself. If we used this stand, it can only stand in a vertical manner. I will still need to use something else to angle the iPad when used horizontally.

The iPad on the stand.. It's good to use when you're reading the news or just to let it stand on your desk.

Other freebies include a screen protector and a fiber cloth. I already had the anti-glare protector, which I preferred over the clear ones. It's smoother to play with and more comfortable on the eyes.

2 sets of protectors for the headphone and charging jack was given. It is very useful as I seldom use headphones for this and covering it up will be good. I covered the charging jack as well but I'm afraid that I may lose it somehow. Maybe that is why they gave 2 sets. Nice of them right? :)

An instruction manual on how you may use the case and stands. There is also a warranty for the item and I'm guessing that is is applicable for us since there is a distributor in Sg.

Overall Verdict,

This is a well design cover that is made with the consumer in mind. Most covers that I see are either form or function. This cover has it all. There are also small slits made on both ends of the flap to prevent damage when the flap is folded backwards. The non slip helps to prevent damages and the extra accessories are useful. It also gives a more complete look to the whole package. Some covers that cost over $100 do not even have as nice a design or that many freebies within their package. Sometimes, they do not even include the screen protector. It feels more like a rip off for the raising iPad popularity.

I am very satisfied with this cover that I cannot express how much i love it. To add to all that, it is slimmer than 80% of the covers sold out there. The only flaw as mentioned is the lack of the abilty to angle it in a horizontal manner.

Fake Apple Case & EBay Rants

Someone keeps getting on my nerves today.. what's her problem seriously.. It's like how those little kids on the street get into fights for the lamest reason and with one sentence, "我看你不爽". Seriously, do something more productive than to get on my nerves and irritate me just coz you're on the wrong mood elevator. I suggest that such people should just lock themselves in their rooms and just isolated yourself from the world.

Anyway, since I'm so moody now.. I shall rant about the eBay problems I encountered. I think it's a experience that I should share and till date, it's not resolved yet. Well, supposingly eBay thinks they resolved it by pushing the responsibility away.

To start off, I bought an Apple iPad case on EBay. It was suppose to be an original iPad case from Apple as described in the auction. It even cost the same as the retail. Why did I buy online? Since the USD was (or is) weak, it would save me a little $$. I wasn't in a rush and so I thought why not.

The title reads, "Original Authentic leather case cover for iPad". So, should it be the real deal? Maybe the original is not technically made of leather (microfiber) but I take it that hong kong-ers do not have very good command of english. The seller is Goldcoastf4b and he a seller from Hong Kong. He had better feedback before that and no one complaint much. He currently has no items on sale and it is probably due to the fact that a few people has complaint and usually the auctions are removed when that happens.

He posted the item to me quickly and I eagerly teared it apart. The first thing that greeted me was this white ziplock bag.

It was unusual for an Apple iPad case to come with this bag as all of those sold at Apple did not come with it. I just thought it was used to protect during shipping. After I realised that it was a fake, I recalled seeing a similar packaging at a small shop in Bugis Village on the second floor. The next time I went back, it was no longer there. I wonder who was the unfortunate soul.

After opening, it looks exactly like the original and it even had the sticker at the bottom of the box. Apple iPad case, designed by Apple..

Once opened, this was what it looked like inside. At first glance, it looked similar to the original but since I got the original cover from Epicentre, I knew how it should look like. The original has a 3 fold plastic while the fake that I received only has 2. It opened up like a book with 2 sides while the original had a 3rd side for the micro fiber cloth. The fake did not come with the cloth and when I asked the buyer, he said that he would send me one. -.-'''

A close up photo of the fake case texture. Seriously, the first time I touched it, I knew it felt different. If you looked at the picture, the material looks so smooth and it lacks the anti-slip feel of the original texture.

This is a comparison of the fake and original case. On the left, fake and right is original. Look at the difference in color taken with a flash camera. You would not have known till you got your hands on the original case.

The bad workmanship of the case was also bad.. There were glue stains at the corner.

The top 2 flaps belong to the fake and the one at the bottom is the original. See the difference in texture and the borders are also sealed differently.

A week passed after the item was sent back and it sat at the post office waiting for the seller to collect. He continued to sell the fake covers and other accessories during that period. I might just not be the only one who thinks it's fake yeah~

I wonder if they got their money back as well..

The item continued to sit on the shelves and despite my several attempts to remind the buyer via EBay messaging that the item has arrived, he refused to pick it up. It was obvious that he deliberately avoided the messages and refused to collect it.

An update from EBay,

The last straw came when EBay decided in the end to rule the case in is favor and refused a refund to me. I was supposed to have been under a buyer protection scheme and they allowed the seller to get away with it?

I was fuming when I read this that I appealed and I have yet to receive a reply till date.

It was then I realise that eBay even deleted the messages I exchanged with that seller in the EBay messaging system. Right! Trying to get rid of the evidence.. no way. I have them stored and backed up.

EBay is letting some bogus seller get away with an imitation item and buyers have to suffer for that. It's insane and I shall not let it rest. So I decided that Apple should be made aware of this matter.

Now I'm currently awaiting Paypal's reply for help with my case. It's a long and tedious journey to recovering my $$. I do not know why EBay does not sense anything wrong when the seller is trying to avoid responsibility by not collecting the item and replying to messages.

Time is ticking..

Time is ticking, tick tock tick tock. I can't believe how fast time flies by just by the wink of an eye. In a mere week, I have my photoshoot coming up and I have yet to achieve my flawless skin and lose my dark eye rings.

I've been so caught up with the preparations that I wonder if all will be done in time for that day. The hand bouquet freaked me out a little as my little experiment proved to be more challenging, time consuming and $$. Still, it's worth it and at the back of my head I thought, "Even if it doesn't work out, it's ok". For a few times, I hit a few bumps along the way and the anxiety set in. "How? What should I do? It doesn't look nice?" The number of times I stayed up to crack my head and experiment around with the (countless) materials I got for my D.I.Y project. I simply refuse to give up till it looked right.

One huge box of cream carnations for my bouquet and I used up every single one of them. My heart almost fell when I was down to my last ten but somehow it was just right. :) I won't reveal the completed piece yet till my wedding photos are taken and completed. It's getting exciting and up till yesterday morning 5am, the hand bouquet starting to look like what I had in mind. I'm loving it. ^.^

The D.I.Y work added and it was nowhere easy. I underestimated it.. but it's working out fine now. Love Love it <3

My new found hobby, it's call Nano block. It's quite easy to make and it looks cute. :)

My other new purchase and I'm using it now to navigate my way around my iMac. It's gorgeous and function. Form and function do not always go hand in hand but this is puuurfect!

Another good buy from Daiso, it's a cooler box. It's a tupperware with a ice bag holder on the lid. I used it to bring cold food out. :) $2, cheap and good.

I tried to make sure that the groom had some bling as well. This cufflink was another purrfect discovery. <3

What to do with unused materials? Use them on something else. :) I finally could (really) bling up my Baby G watch. Simly loving it all.

I was out for work one day and when I slow down my pace, a lovely discovery awaited me. The breeze was nice and the scene was amazing. Sometimes, we just have to slow down and enjoy the beauty in front of us.

I'm still alive and kicking.. just busy with work once again. 2 projects at one go but whose gonna reject earning more yeah?! Lol!

There are some pictures but I shall just keep it short as I need to get back to my reports before the clock strikes 12mn and my clock reads 'Monday'.

My new toy that arrived quite a few weeks already. I know people must be thinking, "what the?! You mean there are still people playing with this?!". Yes, that person is me! LOL! This is a Japanese model that I got off eBay and it's not cheap. It's plus points compensated for the price tag. The vibrant color screen, cute characters, a larger variety of customisation and games. I'm determine to last through a long time with this. Sadly, my first gen passed away before I could even mate it. Argh~ so sad.

That was the first character I got and unfortunately when it died, it was not saved. Hence, I'll have to restart my collection of characters once again. -.-"' I changed the decor of the room to what you see above. It's cute and very different from the original. You could play the games in the machine and earn coins to make those purchases. I bought the fairy stars that she was wearing in the Accessory Store in the selection of shops that your Tamagotchi character could visit.

I woke up to another missing pet.. my tamagotchi pet left me again and I realised that my first one didn't die on me. They all left me!!! How nice ya! Leaving me in the middle of the night... This version is quite strict and I need to maintain their happiness or else they will all leave me.. sobs~

*Watson Face Massager Review*

Last week, I went to watsons to get this facial massager. It's suppose to help deep cleanse and improve absorption of serums to the face. I also got a pink "Anna sui" lookalike mirror from the neighbourhood shops. Shall decorate it later on.

It was all working fine till the instruction said to remove the cover to fit the cotton wool onto the metal plate. So, I followed and it was a good thing I did.

The next thing I knew, the whole device felt apart and the plastics were rattling away inside. I thought maybe it was loose and I tried to fix it. Sadly, the whole thing fell apart again. It just broke into 2 and all the plastic attachments inside were broken. I did not even use much strength on it!! Then, I saw the problem. The device was damaged to begin with and the cover was just there to hold it together. There was a crack on the corner of it and I didn't even have the chance to drop it.

I had to go back to the shop again and I asked for an exchange. There were 4 sets left on the shelf and I went through every single one of them. All 4 of them had the same crack and 2 of them had more than 1 crack. You could hardly see it and it's like a hairline crack. I think the devices were damaged during transportation and the staff was not aware of it. It's a good thing she gave me a refund and voided the transaction. If you still like to use it, I suggest you do not attempt to remove the cover but instead use a rubber band to attached the cotton to the plate.

Price - At $30++, it's a very affordable massager
Quality - Poor... handle with care!
Looks - It's pink and white, cute ;)
Function - Basic but that's what keeps the skin healthy.
Overall review - I can't be using a damage device to know how well it works, yeah~

*Skullcandy Lowrider Headphone*

I got this from the US and it's so much cheaper as compared to here. It's a cute thing to have but I realise that I don't wear it often. In fact, only once since I got it. It's kept in the pouch ot prevent damage as I read online that the plastic was quite fragile. Still, I can't keep my mind off it and I eventually still bought it.

Price - It's $70+ at the stores and USD30 online, if there's a discount then it be even cheaper.
Quality - The plastic does feel quite fragile, so handle with care. I was planning to bling this up so the plastic will be reinforced with the glue :)
Looks - It's cute and even the sponges are pink.
Audio Quality - A lot of people gave the review as above average and some loved it. I realise that my ears are more than above average. LOL! I can still accept the sound but it's not exactly that good.

*2N Dark Circle Remover*

This is a eye cream that supposingly removes dark circles, puffiness and lines. I saw this online before but it did not catch my eye. Then I kind of saw it at a shop but I have zero impression of the place. It was one day when the sale auntie at Watsons approached me and ask if I needed eye cream for my dark eyes that the phrase hit my panic button. "My eyes so dark?! SHIT!" I even had concealer and I did realise the puffiness but sometimes you just need something or someone to shake you into knowing how bad it is. >.< Mine is not so terrible that I look like a panda but I will say it's mid way there. -.-

I've been using it for 3-4 days and nights already. The texture is like water.. I do feel a little bit of alcohol in it but my skin is fine with it so far. The puffiness did go down a little each time I applied but I still need more time to evaluate this product. So far it feels fine and I'll review it again when I've used it for 2 weeks. The packaging says it will improve in 15 days. :)

Chu chu is her nickname now. Don't ask me why, coz I've no idea and I wasn't the one who suggested it. Look at her sticking out her tongue.. so cute :) She has nice and 'pong pong' hair.

Just taken yesterday.. she finally changed into another pose to sleep. Usually she will be in her banzai position. She's growing so fast and she almost managed to flip over while doing this but strangely fell asleep the minute she turned. -.-"'

My wrist is aching from all the typing..it's the reports I tell you. Sigh~ I need to rest my hands awhile before I continue with the reports again. >.<

Short Trip for 2010

Another 3.5 days I'll be on a jetplane off on a short trip. :) I seriously need to relax for a short while and Mango Rice. Yes, I'm going to the land of a thousand smiles XD. One thing for sure is you won't find me in bkk but somewhere else more laid back and seldom visited by most people.

The last time I went there, it was more quiet but I have to go back to return my thanks to the temple and do some kind deeds while I'm there. In our fast paced society, we often forget that many at times we will feel better when we give back to those who are less fortunate than us. As we gain more, we become protective of our achievements that we turn into selfish individuals. It always feels good to know that through the little that I can offer them, it gives them an abundance of love and comfort.

I'm definitely looking forward to the trip and I will eat all the charkwayteow I can stuff myself. LOL! It's seriously good I tell you! Not to mention, the sweet pineapple and health drinks that I can get at their local Watsons.

But.. but.. I will miss my niece this coming weekend. :( She's seriously gaining weight with all the milky goodness she is getting everyday. LOL! Still, she's adorable and so sweet when she sleep on the bed with her hands up in banzai!

I think I should take more pictures.. my blog is so lacking of pictures now. LOL! I hate my 3G iphone la.. its not only slow but the enhance features of the new OS4 don't really work on this version. The camera also sux for the 3G version... sigh~ next year will be the year I get the iPhone 4. :)

It's a good thing I'm not 45 yet.. but my country is :)

So sad that I still have no chance to get the National Day tickets for the countless years of balloting. Sigh~ Do first timers get priority too. *.* I've only been to one National Day when I was little and I didn't have to ballot for it. This year I can only watch the fireworks from my balcony and my little niece will be joining me on that. XD Joe unfortunately has to work (boo~) or we usually will find a good spot where we can enjoy it right in front of us.

Time goes by so quickly and a long weekend soon will be over. I'll be looking forward to some "me" time next week. 3 days of undisturbed "me" time.. :) technically I won't be alone but then I know I can relax and enjoy myself. In the stressful times of our generations, "me" times are hard to come by and it's like a miracle booster pill that re-energizes you for the long road ahead.

Brought to you by Waraku ^.^ I always loved Curry Rice and this is one of the better ones that I had. The only down side was they did not serve Katsu Sauce for my Katsu Curry. So all I did was to savor every last drop of the curry.

iPhone 4 Coming To The Shops Near You

Friday is THE day that the iPhone 4 is going to reach our shores.

It's somewhat bittersweet.. everyone anticipates it, wants it, loves it but the problems since it's launch in the US has yet to be properly solved. The reception problem is a killer and the bumpers just don't look good. However, I did see other colours online that I might be able to accept. Still, I'm thinking to get it at a later date.

I will really prefer if they can have a hardware replacement for it as the bumpers really add bulk to it and changes the sleek look.

These are the colours available for the bumpers. I kinda like the pink and blue. Maybe it will add some contrast to the normal black and white colour of the phone. I always love to get things when the excitment is there but I think I'll hold onto that thought and check out the reviews from the early birds. :)

It felt like just yesterday when I heard that my sis-in-law was preggy.. Just minutes ago, out popped the little precious (thats what I call her).

So glad that she's finally out and now I have someone else to celebrate birthdays with. Mine falls on the 11 and she's on the 12. :) Next year, we can blow the candle together. Oh! In addition to that, we came out from the very same hospital. :D

The Trust No Longer Exist

I've always trusted the very salon that I've been faithful to for so many years, introducing so many people and even creating some level of awareness for their stylist to the public. Something that has been painstakingly built up has just been crushed in just one simple event that left my tresses in ruin (once again).

Blame it on my nature to explore possibilities of great heights into hair technology as the culprit to my damaged hair. It's not the worst that I ever gotten but it's one hell of an ugly hair. The so call air wave perm (to be launched soon) was said to have some high tech machine that causes less damage in a perm, giving you the bouncy set curls that every girl dreams about. (My Foot!) I felt cheated by the claims and I have stated my reasons to the mgmt that I was fully aware of perms being dry but there was no excuse to have limp, lifeless hair with literally zero curls at all. It was a horrid mess when I left the salon and the silence that the stylist gave me after the hair was toweled dry.. well.. I pretty much got the response or reaction about the failed result. She was blabbering to her other stylist about how they should position the curl to create the directions, etc. It all sounded convincing and I could not say there was no truth to her words but somehow at the end of it all, she was just quiet about how bad it turned out.

I emailed the mgmt about the matter and we were still exchanging emails on a daily basis before the incident. Somehow, it so happened that there no longer was a response from the very same "spontaneous" mail address. No acknowledgement, no replies and no advice on how I should deal with the mess they left me with - not to mention any form of compensation. Right! It was free and I supposed they might have felt that I should suck up to that.. Yeah! H*ll no! So I shall publicise this out on my blog to share my experience (since I've always have shared my experiences on the forum about hair services) to those who are not aware of it.

Air wave perm as some may call it has been available in Japan and the pictures of the perm looked very much like the ones we see on the Jap magazines. This is similar to the Japanese perm that has been around for quite a long time. These are classified as cold perms. As you can see in the picture, there is a machine used in the process and I mistakenly thought that it was a hot perm. Digital perm (the one with the alien looking machine filled with wires) is a hot perm.. the one that has so far created Japanese bouncy curls similar to the ones you see on the magazines. I never had problems with digital perm and I totally love it to bits.

As I sat at the chair, I asked the stylist what the difference and she told me that digital perm was more damaged due to the heat and the new perm was able to produce bouncy set curls through the help of the machine. With her 15 years of experience and M (as I shall call her, a mgmt within the "L" group) recommendation won me over. Not to mention, even when once my hair went wrong - they rectified it well. It is this commitment to a customer that has left me loyal and worthy of my trust.

Gorgeous? Yes? Do you want it? Who doesn't? I share that very same desire of wanting that curl and I can only warn you that in no way can you get it through a cold perm.

As the process started, I was amazed at how friendly the staff was with Miss C (stylist and manager of the branch). Maybe it was the neighbourhood feeling that draws a different sense of atmosphere to the salon. I was always in the Marina Sq branch where the stylist were friendly but a certain level of seniority was respected from the juniors within the salon. However, the juniors in the HDB branch was constantly "suaning" aka disturbing the manager in an attempt of pure fun and what followed, initially felt funny but soon turned skeptical.

Incident 1, the manager (Miss C) started mentioning about a stylist who challenged her into some difficult task. The conversation went on and she constantly told them that it was ok to challenge her and she was up to it. Sounds harmless, yes? I thought so too. It was nice to know that the stylist was up to challenges and we all know that it was how we could learn new things and surpass our abilities.

After a few hours later, a certain young girl and her mum entered the salon hoping to have her haircut. The younger stylist approached her to assist her and I heard the girl asking to see some hair pictures to decide on the haircut. After some discussion, the young stylist came by to the manager who was still busy with my hair to ask her about the haircut she wanted. Inbetween the conversation, I sort of got the idea that he wanted the manager to handle her but she was busy. So, she suggested another stylist to do it instead. Still don't see anything wrong with it, right? That was when my bells triggered and she suddenly made a comment in chinese loud enough for the people around us to hear.

Young stylist, "她要這個髮型，可是要更女性化一點。”
Miss M, "叫她去陣容現再說啦！”

At this point, I smiled but felt taken aback from her impolite comment. It never came across her mind that non-chinese could sometimes understand chinese.

Miss M, "叫她拿照片來啊。等一下剪錯了怎麼辦？”
(other racist jokes were shared but I shall not mentioned it as it would be too obvious already)

I had to agree that sometimes it was hard to imagine what the customer wanted but I think she could have explained it nicely to the customer and not to put it in such sacastical tones. The girl was only a secondary school girl who wanted to have a change of hairstyle and the stylist should have been more professional about her job integrity. I bet that when I left with that ugly hair, they probably might have discussed amongst themselves about it and mentioned that it was my fault to be perming my hair since it was dry to begin with.

Maybe it is hard for the so call "professionals" to willingly admit their mistakes and find ways to rectify the problem. Somehow they do not mind letting their customers leave the salon with ugly hair that was done with their very own hands.

Incident 2, the phrase about her being challenged was constantly brought up and even as they pushed her to serve the non-chinese customer, she was still feeling proud in taking up that challenge to meet her so call demands. It was only later she told me and another customer, "他門啊。換一毛，要一萬的服務。” I cannot clearly state the detail to that phrase but I shall summarise it for those who do not understand. She was passing a racist remark about how certain race groups have that sort of mentality and often it was hard to please them for the peanut prices paid. I would not agree on that as I always believed that the true service professionals were those who could handle all sorts of customers. Even if you were not able to fulfill her requests, you should still show your sincerity and integrity towards your work.

Ok, I side tracked a little.. back to what I wanted to state was the young stylist were not technically challenging her. I started to have this gut feeling that they were pushing all the tough clients to her so they could easily whiz pass the not so demanding customers. Yet, I could not believe that Miss M was openly encouraging them to do so and still felt proud that she could handle it. Sadly, that made me ponder onto the next point.

Incident 3, talk is cheap.. She talked with so much confidence and experience. No doubt she might have them but sadly, through the way she dealed with the last customer and my terrible tresses - I knew she was all talk but no action. Once a customer's hair was damaged, she only quietly touched my hair. Even as she styled, I could see her loosening it without much difference no matter how hard she tried.

As I started testing the stylist with questions, I realised their incapabilities. I mentioned to her that my hair colour faded quite a bit with the chemicals from the perm. (it's common knowledge for that to happen...) She brushed it off and said that my hair was light to begin with.. Yes it was light but it was in a chestnut brown shade. At the end of it all, the hair was clearly blonde...

Following that, the young stylist as he was undoing my hair. He still said that he could see that the curl would turn out looking really pretty. How? He then proceed to try to explain why. He took up a bundle of the wet permed hair and twirled it round. It was crazy.. Firstly, there was still perm lotion on it and by doing that action, the lotion got onto my face. Secondly, when you twirl a bundle of wet hair in a circular motion, what are the chances of it creating a round circular shape? 101%. After he twirled, he said that was how I could tell if the curl would turn out nice or not. -.-"'

Incident 4, the last straw was when Miss C remained quiet throughout the time she tried to style my hair and she kept trying to loosen the hair when it was already done. Sadly, no matter how hard she tried, the hair was horrendous.

I would love to quote what my regular stylist said after I sent him the mms, "damn ugly!". It is such honesty that I loved going to him for years but Miss C, clearly did not bother if I am returning or not.

She finished styling and told me to wait for the junior staff to take the finish picture for me. Then she went to another customer and left me alone. Nothing about how I should care for the perm, how I should style it.. zero.. no word of advice whatsoever. Maybe it was so horrid that she just wanted to get away from it. I was quite embarassed to be seen in that hair as customers in the store took notice of it. I knew it was not a style to be proudly flaunting around in the store. So, all I could do was to quickly proceed onto the photo taking.. making it look like as if it was some strange hairdo to be done for a hair show, all the while hoping people would not think that I actually wanted it. The road out of the salon was painstaking as I walked lightening fast to the nearest toilet. The short 1 minute walk felt like the worse path I've walked through and without any hesitation, I bun it up with my small little claw clip that I used for my fringe earlier.

Lastly, I can only openly declare to them that I shall no longer trust your brand but only the person who has showed me honesty and professionalism throughout the years (well at least till he screws my hair up, LOL!). It's not the end of the world and yes I have a wedding in a couple of months but I'm more concern about the present hair condition. I'm not a firm believer that short hair girls can't have fun in their wedding hairstyles. Since my hair was quite long, I could afford to cut off a bit of it. the stylist chopped off like 2 inches instead of the so call little bit. I hate her for that.. oh and it was weird for her to actually cut my end straight (horizontally straight!). I have no idea what she was thinking when she did not and it was ugly for perm hair to have straight ends.

Anyway, I'll be working hard to get it back in shape and hopefully I could let down my hair soon (again). It's so bad that I resort to bunning up my hair everyday.. including my fringe coz she went to perm my fringe and I soon realised that it went in the right direction as she blowed it that way.

korean face mask

Another new item in stores,

The packaging as usual attracted my attention and at $5 a piece, it's more costly than some of the masks sold. It's said to be made by some expert from Seoul University.

This mask is suppose to be good for acne and sebum control.

The material is different from the usual mask and it fits better.

However, I only find it hydrating but my face started to get shiny in 1.5 hr of using it. The after effect felt sticky but if u put a little on your knee or elbow, it feels smooth.

I'm a little slow with my blog post as I've been busy with work and wedding preparations. :) The gown has taken me more time and effort than expected. It's not good to have an eye for expensive gowns. Gotta lower my expectations.

It's time to mask.. many raves about this mask and my acne was bad after the weather got so hot.

review: it's said to help with oil control and enlarge pores. My verdict is - pores didn't reduce in size, did not feel that my pores were cleaner. Oil control can only know tml morning but face feels quite refreshed and a little firm.

Not In The Mood For Anything

I'm onto another new project in work and personal ways. Those physically close to me will know what it's all about and I shall not reveal till it's settled in the next few months. We'll see.. ^.^

There are photos in my camera but I've yet to upload them and new loots that I got for the past few weeks. I'm too tired these days to upload. Once I get my energy back, I shall slowly put them up.

Projects have been ongoing, reports are endless. I got a week break recently but tomorrow onwards will be chaotic. Something about paper work that just doesn't appeal to anyone whose human. LOl! While typing this post, I'm waiting for my fave Tdrama to load, searching for apps on my iPhone and hoping that the next day will be a better day. It's been raining quite a bit these days and I always love the rain. Something about it's gloomy emotions that perks me up more than the sun. It just makes me feel good in a way that is cold on the contrary.

I applaude myself for completing the Shanghai post but I've got reports stacking up to my neck already.

Reports are so boring coz you're literally typing the same things over and over again.. worse, you need to rephrase it to make it sound different when in fact, there's not much of a difference. Sigh~ 2 more to go and I'll be free for the next 12 hours and more reports will be waiting for me. lol! I'm going nutz!

I've got a nice ash brown colour sitting there waiting for me but I got no time to recolour my hair. I got nice bags to look at online but I only sneak a look at it in between my reports. I got orders to make for my business and I just got to do it before everything else.

I've been eyeing a birkin online but sadly the seller does not provide good enough pictures for me to judge. I've sent 2 emails to request for it but the added picture was not clear enough. It's a freaking birkin and god knows what prices I've gotta pay to get one. So as much as I'm itching for it... it's absolutely a million arms length away from me right now. Sigh~ Her feedbacks are good but as a buyer, I just gotta protect myself. As much as ebay has a protection scheme, I believe I've got to go through hell of a time if I found the bag to be fake. Seriously! Plz put up better pictures if you're thinking of selling expensive bags cos you can't expect people to believe ur honest just by a couple of feedbacks. Well, that's just some advice for anyone who wants to get expensive stuff online.

Well, maybe if I still have some energy left after my report then I'll touch up the colour on my hair. I bought a couple of stuff the past few weeks and mostly for my darling rabbit. Having a pet is like having a kid. There are endless stuff that you will like to buy and some things are not cheap. Like the new pee pan I got was like close to $50.. for a rabbit that's exorbidant! Yeah, some recommend the cheap - less than $10 basin but its eeky to see him step on his pee, eat at where he shit and whatever yucky things that goes on in there. I prefer him stepping on a grill where he won't come in direct contact with all that stinky poo. Seriously, I can faint sometimes while changing it. I also got him a toy to entertain himself but unfortunately he decided to chew off the cable tie I used to attached the pee pan. Great! I wonder how much plastic went into his system.. sigh~

Just some new shows to recommend,

Cinderella Sister - it is a unique adaptation to the Cinderella cartoon that we watch and quite an original one I might say. It's refreshing to see a different storyline and I can't help but feel frustrated over the english subs. -.-"'

竟然是上海之旅，就应该用中文来写。

如有错字请多原谅哦 ^。^

这个旅游是在一月的时候。因我有些懒，才等到现在上载。已经有好久好久没用中文写文章了，还是第一次用来写部落格哦。应该会用上不少时间。而且，我的指甲现在是超长的（该剪了）。这个星期会比较忙，可是还是okay的。这个星期也吃了不少的夜宵，可是要发胖了哦！

好了，废话少说该看照片了。

还是它最棒！我指的是航空公司，不是纸人。。。

吃完早餐，我们慢步走到穿梭列车到我们的登机口。

恐龙说用走的会死人，坐了之后还真的会哦！

幸好没用走的。。。

在等的当儿，一定要拍照哦！“好困哦！”

竟然每次飞机都一样就拍别的吧。

恐龙问，“哦！哪里的雪照？”

其实是，飞机要起飞之前拍到在机场的日出。

刚吃过的早餐都消化了，该吃多一份哦！好好吃哦！

我还是喜欢本国飞机提供的食物。

已抵达上海。

飞机场很美，但没拍照。

原本以为像日本的快铁，可是看了有些失望。

因为样貌差好多，而且连吉隆坡机场的快铁都比较美哦。

椅子上也抱了白布，可是有些脏。

浴室设备齐全，什么都有哦！

每天酒店提供两瓶水，牙刷，杯子，等等。。

吹风机一定要哦！各式各样的毛巾都有。

进入房里，第一样看到的是整面的落地窗。
好大好美！棒棒棒！
窗帘是自动的，而且到了五点酒店服务人员会来帮忙拉窗帘。

再走进里面，有能传动的电视和超大的床。

好方便哦，可以床上看，桌上看，沙发看。。

有Apple的电话或iPod都可以放在桌上的器材传出到房里的音响系统。
房间任何的角落都能听的到哦！

我的第一餐是在个水饺快餐店。

I was kinda tied up for weeks and finally I can post my loots. Hopefully after I see all these stuff, I should just lock myself home..

It's been a noisy day as the upgrading goes on downstairs >.< Gosh! The weather's been up and down but I love the rain that makes it all so cooling. ^.^

I got this as an alternative to the DHC oil but I realised it's not that good and somehow feels kinda artificial. Maybe it's the smell.. the colour and all.. Well so far it's still ok but I forsee myself finishing this quick to move onto DHC.

I saw this being used on a show and there are 2 twist sticks, 1 is a concealer and the other is a highlighter. The texture is light but somehow at the end of the day, it feels a little dry on top of the foundation. However, the shimmer on the highlighter is mild and quite natural. Thumbs up for the colour but I will love it if it is more moisturising like how most BB products are suppose to work. I'll still continue to use it. ^.^

Next up.. yeah.. another Shills product and I can't emphasize more on how heavily promoted this brand has been since BB creams are introduced. I need an eye cream and fine lines are starting to appear.. (ARGH!!) So I decided to try this after I saw how it was demo on a show and the girls eye was like slanted on one side after using it. LOL! Seriously, it does work to lift the eye coz I tried it on one side first but it's not so drastic a lift that you thought you might have a stroke (choy!). Sadly, I realised the hydration for this is quite low (as compared to others I've used), fine lines were not reduced and dark circles... are still there. Thumbs down for it's claims... but yeah I'm using it for the lift and I got another product from Etude for moisturising. ^.^

Ta~nah, the so call (new) moistfull line in Etude.. at least in Singapore it's new. They gave a sample of their face cream and some post stick note. Since I'm already using my proactiv (happily), I shall use this on my neck.

Dr Oil, this is not available in Singapore yet and I feel so glad to be able to grab this before everyone else. I believe it will be available soon as the whole range is about oil control and so appropriate for local weather. I tried this once but somehow the oil didn't get absorbed but I'm not sure if I didn't shake the bottle or something. (only realised that after reading the box) It's useful to have in the purse when my makeup starts melting.. -.-"'

The translucent powder that I somewhat forgotten and I went to get the maybelline foundation powder before it arrived. (smack myself for wasting money) I've been lazy lately and used the foundation powder as a quickie.. ;p Although I will still say that the MAC liquid foundation has better coverage. I shall try this out over the weekend.

My current skin care and the package I got from proactiv.. I think it's quite worth it considering for $50 you only get a sample cleanser toner and moisturiser here. So far my skin has cleared up quite a lot and the blemished has faded quite a fair bit. I will not recommend this for sensitive skin or those who are allergic to acne ingredients as it's quite strong. You can try to use the spot treatments for spots but I feel that when used in combination of the rest of the products, it kinda works better.

Lastly, the Asience kit I got from my hair diagnose. It's nice smelling but I'm not sure why the shampoo from the older version seems to make my hair softer instead. There are more stuff but I shall stop here.

It's just another "insomia" night.. lol! nah~ my eyes simply refuse to go off this screen. I was checking out the prices of korean products here and it's like double the price of what's being charged in Korea. (faint)

Since I've mia-ed for so long, I shall do some beauty reviews.. =)

I've been using this Shill eye lifting cream.

Shills seems to be building up quite reputation that started out with the sudden range of BB creams and amazingly, the trend has stayed on for longer than expected. Although I still found it confusing to compare and even cosmetic girls at the shops have no idea on the one that is suitable for me. Well, I can't blame them when I myself don't even know which is better for myself.

Anyway, back to the eye gel. The texture is exactly the kind that I love BUT! results wise I seriously do not see any at all. Since I've tried the laneige samples and the hydration was amazing. You could see and feel it instantly. I thought maybe it only has tightening results but sadly, none seen or felt. It does feel like a waste of $$ but I shall use it all the way and give it a chance to work it's "magic" if there's any. >.<

As for the BB cream, I went to various places trying out various brands, types (within the same brand), textures and varieties of it. Countless of them are seen on the shelf and some even at exorbitant pricing. It's crazy! The best part of it, some don't even have shades and it leaves you puzzled as to which is the one for you. It will always look lighter giving you the whitening effect and the texture for most are on the thick side. Some are rather light but they serve more as base than a full pledge foundation. After trying so many, I decided to go with the brand, Lioele. It's quite famous in Korea and they have many counters worldwide. The prices here are sadly expensive and I resort to ordering online to bring the savings for other stuff like, cleanser.. powder.. blar blar..

I'm getting this newer edition.

It's an improved version of their first bb cream. Besides the lovely change of gold pump head, it helps to curb wrinkle and adds on with whitening effects. I love the coverage of it and how smooth it felt on my hand. I can only know when it arrives. The brand is quite established and I don't want to worry about applying something unknown on my face. I will do a review of it once I get my hands on it.

Other stuff I'm interested in trying is Dr Oil from Etude House. It's not in Singapore yet but I'll get my hands on it first. hehehehe!! This range has a oil control powder that I might also consider as I'm seriously running out of my MAC blotting powder and I really like to try something else.

The next thing in my list to try is the amazing concealor.

I know it's available in Sephora but I can't stress it further that prices here are crazy!! It's a highly recommended concealor and one day I will get my hands on it.

Lastly, I've been using proactive everyday for the past 1 week. Everything.. cleanser, toner, repair treatment, moisturiser.. I must say that the first time I used it a few years ago.. the result was very quick but I found my face overly tight and sensitive. I suppose it's the acne ingredients that can be quite strong. Now I'm trying the newer version and I realise that my skin is more stablised and acne tends to dry up or it recovers fairly quick. However, there are always the bad stuff. I started finding my skin getting a little sensitive for these 2 days and I lessen the use of the repair treatment as it is the strongest. So I restrict the use of it only for night. The face still feels a little itchy but it's not as bad the yesterday. It was a little red and patchy but mild. I might lessen the use further if it's still itchy tomorrow and possibly alternate my other skincare between day and night use. Preferably I will still prefer to use fully proactiv to see how effective it can be but if by the end I'm done with it and I still see no results, I might reconsider the products to be use. Possibly I will mix and match the different products that I think works well for me.

The banks seemed to send bills fairly on time and there I saw it, a charge from my favourite game website that seemed odd. I haven't bought games online since the last 2 I got that I've yet to complete even half of it. Why was I charged the price of a full game when I usually buy them at a discount?!

So I investigated and realised that the free membership they gave me the last round wasn't that free afterall. Ah well, I enjoyed buying one of my games for less than $5 and I didn't know that the offer has expired. So I need to pay for one full game to enjoy my membership every month. Clever of them to keep my details and charge me accordingly.. -.-"' Well, I'm gonna get one more game and cancel the membership. Grr!!

Btw, if you love to play games then you should get your games online. No, I'm not asking you to dl from bit torrent or what not. I don't even know how to use that.. lol! I buy my games direct from gameshops online.. it's really cheap. What you pay outside (like $29.90 a game) can be bought online for $5 if there's a promo or a full game on my recent card bill is $10. Even if the stores were to go on sale, 1 game can easily cost you $19.90. Not to mention, the popular ones are never on sale.

Tip: Buy games online but check the fine prints. LOL!

I just finished watching an episode of 女人我最大 and I do not recommend this show if you have an impulsive purchase behaviour (like me). I've been hunting for an eye gel and that show was "research". I might consider trying out some of the pharmacy brands as expensive eye creams are not necessarily good.

Ok, off to download my new game ^.^

I went to kinokuniya yesterday and guess what I found. I was browsing around the jap magazines as usual, grabbing the vivi and JJ blar blar blar. Then I realise there was quite a crowd around the magazine section and the strange thing was, they seemed to be looking for something as they circled the shelves and nothing was picked up. It strucked me that I read on the newspapers that Japanese magazines are giving away freebies. It has always been a practise of Jap mags but this time round they were giving bags.. branded bags. I walked to the counter with my books and realised why everyone were hunting the shelves - there it was.. agnes B and you can't imagine what else was available.. YSL and cher! gosh! However I always thought of getting a Agnes B, so why not get it for free. LOL! So I invested $27 in their new spring summer catalog and got the new collection design tote bag FREE! There are actually people selling it online already - according to my informer. I'm definitely keeping mine. ^.^

Ok, now time to go oowwww coz the cutest furry little thing is coming.

Happy Lunar New Year!!!

What has everyone been up to?

For me, it's as usual.. visiting, visiting and more visiting. The weather was seriously hot and I actually brought a fan out to keep myself cool. Well, not that it even kept me cool... -.-"' Surprisingly, this year I did not eat as much as compared to previous years. However, I'm looking forward to this weekend where I can have my favourite Yu Sheng (nom nom nom..). I <3 <3 <3 it and I'm gonna have more shark fin too! hehehe... slurp ;p~

Anyway, I went to river ang bao on new year's eve with Joe. They had some China tourism fair there but I found it quite boring. Although the uncle ringo was amazing - the rides were unbelievable and it looked fun. Yeah~ I only look coz I can't take all these rides. I'll see stars if I do *_*

Wow, look at those lights! I took that picture from Marina Sq and you can see the construction that's still ongoing for the MArina IR. It's amazing to see the hotel structure. Magnificent! I could see a glimpse of it from my bedroom window. ^.^

I literally got dizzy just looking at it. There were only 3 kids on it and I applaude them for their bravery. I actually stood there waiting for them to get off it to see if they would walk sideways. LOL!

I've seen a taller version of this for adults.. it's for kids.

Initially, it looked rather innocent. I thought it was like one of those fair rides that kids sit in for fun.. damn i was wrong.

It would swing higher, faster and in diagonal ways. Like how Joe described it as a whole lot of harry potters in that thing. lol! Coz it looked like some fantasy teleport machine or something.

We got tired and bought some drinks/food to sit on the floating platform waiting for the fireworks. The food stores were crowded as usual and they sold some kind of local delicacy that people in Chengdu enjoyed. It was nice but one foreign guy tried to cut queue when obviously everyone was waiting in line. It took time to cook and he just thought he could voice out his order while I waited for the couple in front of me to leave. Good thing the young chap behind the counter told him to step back in line. LOL! (points the L sign)

It's not very clear but the skyline of the shenton way area. I wonder why I didn't bring my digicam,,

I made a video when I was there.. totally love the fireworks display and if you missed it, you can watch part of it here. The fireworks lasted 5 mins but the first 3 got erased coz of some error half way through. -.-

I heard it was super crowded on the first day of Lunar New Year but I just happen to think of it on the second day when we had nothing to do after visiting relatives. Do we drove our way down to check out the new Casino. Parking was a breeze with the huge basement carpark, just be careful not to forget where you parked your car.

There were tons of Singaporeans and I heard some stories about locals going there after they read about some winning strike on day 1. Yeah~ right! (roll eyes)

Even with the $100 levy, it will not stop locals from patronising. However, it did stop me. ;p

The place looked very much like Clarke Quay and I went to explore the other areas such as the shopping arcade and Universal Studios.

Have a sweet tooth? Hersheys anyone?!

The victoria secret that doesn't sell bras. LOL! They do but you can literally count them with the fingers on one hand. It's way to small for a first store in Singapore. tsk tsk tsk.. Hopefully they will consider expanding their shop and range of items.

Oh and it so happen we wore the same brand of jeans on CNY.. I thought it was cute and I got them to take a picture. ;p

SINGAPORE: An Indonesian man who lost all the S$1,000 he had with him at the Resorts World Sentosa casino was jailed for four weeks after pleading guilty to stealing a handphone from an undergraduate at Changi Airport.

The unemployed Indonesian, Paulus Djohar, stole the S$500 handphone from Ms Lim Tse Min at Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

He had intended to get some cash from the sale of the handphone.

The court heard Djohar came to Singapore from Malaysia last Tuesday with the intention of patronising the newly—opened casino at Sentosa.

As he lost all his money gambling at the casino on Monday, the second day of its opening, he decided to steal from passengers at Changi Airport.

Djohar went to the airport early Tuesday morning.

He then approached Ms Lim, who was with a group sending off a friend going to Australia to study.

One of them saw Djohar brushed his hands across Ms Lim’s backpack and walked away quickly.

The witness alerted Ms Lim who discovered her handphone missing from the side pocket of her backpack.

Ms Lim and the witness confronted Djohar and filed a police report.

Imo, this guys must have been some kinda compulsive gambler.. which person in the right mind will do such a thing after losing 1k at the casino?!?!

SINGAPORE: Resorts World Sentosa expects visitor numbers to its casino to dip significantly from Wednesday when the public holidays end.

This, after an overwhelming response to its opening, during the first three days of the Lunar New Year.

The casino has attracted some 41,000 people so far.

Police also made its first arrests when two foreign nationals, believed to be Mongolians, tried to use a false passport to gain entry.

Some 6,300 guests tried their luck at the casino during the last day of the Lunar New Year public holidays.

The more popular games included baccarat, roulette, pontoon and blackjack.

Although it was the end of the holiday period, some punters said they will be back.

Teething problems also emerged during the first three days of operations.

Long waits, overwhelmed facilities and confusion over dress code were some of the complaints received.

Resorts World Sentosa said there have been initial problems, and will take feedback from guests seriously.

Krist Boo, vice president, Communication, Resorts World Sentosa, said: "We had to turn away some of the customers on the first day because they came in slippers. So, the dress code for the casino as with a lot of world—class casino, is no slippers, no singlets and no shorts.

“So, we realised that some of the customers are not aware that the signs have been posted outside the casino. Yesterday, we started putting up more signage to inform the customers to come in proper attire."

With many new dealers on the floor, gamblers also questioned their competency.

Said one visitor to the casino: "It’s very slow, I don’t see a lot of Singaporeans also. They are still at a learning stage and they made a number of mistakes."

Ms Boo added: "Mainly our croupiers are new to the industry. They started training as early as August last year so they have been training for quite a while. But nothing beats the real thing. So, when the casino opens, many are learning on the job."

Resorts World Sentosa said it would take some time for the croupiers to gain experience and they are working hard to put things right.

I suggest Giordano or Hang Tang should open a store near the Casino selling jeans, polo tees and covers shoes.

I got the lollipop over the weekend and this is what it looks like. The pink is super sweet.. every thing that you see or hear is customisable. It's unbelievably cute cute cute.

The white interior is nice and I love the lights on the top part. Not to mention, the other cute led graphics in front that is hidden behind the pink. However, I might (if someone is willing to offer a good price) sell it off as I'm starting to abandon my iPhone.. a big no no for me. ;p

There are lots of errands to run before cny arrives and I'm like in and out of the house at night just to get them done. It's tiring and the afternoon sun just drain off 90% of my energy. I still have stuff that are not packed and thrown out yet.. Cny is a love and hate affair. I love the fact that it pushes me to clean the room and the extra space feels good. I hate it for the fact that there are like a gazillion things to do and it never ends. -.-"'

It's new outlet is hidden at a corner of 313. Quiet and away from all the noise along orchard road. In their menu, you will find all kinds of unusual dishes and so we tried. ^.^

I ordered the watermelon and beancurd.

You can't really see the salt but this is Lemon coke with salted lemon.. which equates to a salted coke..literally. Not for those who are thirsty LOL!

Trishaw noodles, yum! It's surprisingly nice but the msg is a slight turn off..

Complain day ...

The weather is @!$!@$!@ hot and there's tons of spring cleaning to do = losing weight (best way to shed some weight and have a clean house).I'm not even 1/4 done with my room.

Gotta rush parcels out and I'm about to walk to the singpost.. more weight to shed.. if you're wondering why I never get fat, WALK! Yes, I realise I'm quite hyperactive at times and I suppose it will equate to a higher metabolic rate. I don't know (shrug, just guessing)

Sick of the overly bright iMAc, I've like 2 pieces of car films that are pretty dark in color and stil its too bright... The anti glare film I found is like 60USD and I guess it wouldn't help with the brightness, or maybe it could but 60USD??? and it's the cheapest. Moral of the story? Don't buy too big a screen. LOL!

I've gotten the LG lollipop over the weekend, Yeah~ Nah! It's auto restarting on random attempts to take a picture, open a sms, etc. So I'm gonna send it back to starhub cos they have a 7days exchange for this set. ;p~

They just launched it last week and instantly it went on a promotion price. I hope they can have the promotion price again this weekend then I can go grab it already. HeHeHe Perks of being able to recontract every 12 months. Sadly, Starhub seems to be cutting back on their voucher amount too. They gave me $100 for the past 2 years and now I'm only left with $50. sadzz but better than none.

I don't have to ask you guyz which color I be getting coz it's so obvious. LOL!!

I realised that the 3G network for this phone is the same as my 3G iPhone -.-"', screen wise (well.. harrr NEXT), 60mb of storage (not too shabby), HSDPA 3.6 (not the latest but I think it's the same as my iPhone), Camera 3.15mp (lol! my iPhone is only 2 lor!) and no wifi (hey? who needs wifi with a 12gb data plan?!).

Anyway, I know I'm suppose to be posting up pictures of my Shanghai trip but I'm procastinating.. ;p There are more important things that I need to get done before CNY but hey! there's always time for some funny videos. I'm so frustrated by the Tudou website. You know how irritating it is when you're trying to do a drama marathon and the website just hangs up on you like forever. Then you're stuck at the exciting part and you got to forward just so you could continue watching. !!!

I'm considering options to add to my makeup and I was fascinated by this brand, MakeupForever. I first heard of it on Youtube and I've seen it at Sephora but the prices here are crazy. Anyway, I'm considering whether to try the HD series. I can't believe that even in real life, we still need to worry about the pores on our face. I'm not sure if it's worth the hype but I suppose it's worth a try.

The product that is more raved about is the Full cover concealer but they have a HD concealer. So, I can't really decide now till I try out the texture at Sephora.

The good thing about their base products are the range of skin tones that you can choose. They will definitely have one that is right for you. ^.^

The other raved product is the HD foundation. I will love to try this and see how different it is from the MAC foundation I'm using now. Seems like its time for me to hit town this weekend. ^.^

SINGAPOREANS can expect more competitive telco services next year, under new guidelines that recommend shorter contracts and lower termination fees.
Yesterday, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) released guidelines that require a cap of two years on the contract period for fixed line, broadband and mobile phone contracts.

My reply, "ah huh? How? I've not been told to sign a contract beyond 2 years lor! They should revise it to 1 year instead."

In addition, fees levied on consumers for ending these service contracts early have to be graduated on a monthly basis, so that they pay less if they terminate it later in the contract period.
My reply, "I believe it's not much of a difference from what is offered now. Since I'm using starhub, they offer lower termination penalities when you're into the later part of you're contract."

The fees should also not include costs that the operators can avoid incurring when consumers terminate their service, such as back-end administrative and operational costs.
Some bundled services now have contract periods over two years, and a flat fee is often charged for early termination of a contract, industry players said.
If a telco does not comply with the new guidelines, the IDA may take action against it, said the IDA yesterday.
This could take the form of warnings, a direction requiring the telco to take corrective action to ensure compliance, and financial penalties.
The guidelines will come into effect from March 1 next year for new and renewed contracts.

Present Contracts

All its service contracts do not exceed two years. Most of its consumer mobile-phone plans have a $300 early-termination charge. But the telco has graduated early-termination fees for its Take3 mobilephone programme, which allows consumers to use a phone with an M1 plan without having to buy the phone.

SingTel

Many of its existing service contracts last for two years. Early-termination charges vary across service plans. For example, for its iPhone two-year plans, customers who terminate after three months into the plan pay a $856 equipment charge.

StarHub

Its standard contractual term for mobile and broadband services is two years, depending on the type of premiums given. It has graduated early-termination charges for mobile-phone plans, ranging from $214 to $535, with lower fees for termination later into the contract.

The IDA said that the guidelines seek a balance between protecting consumers' interests and giving telcos freedom in creating service plans.
It added that the two-year cap for contracts should not adversely affect the telcos as most service contracts today do not exceed two years.
The IDA said that the measures were released after a public and industry consultation that began last December.
This had been prompted by consumers' concerns that contract periods might be becoming "unduly long" and early-termination charges "excessively high", said the IDA.
Its deputy chief executive, Mr Leong Keng Thai, said: "In promoting effective competition in the telecoms sector, we have to lower barriers for consumers to terminate services...and (for them) to switch from one operator to another to enjoy more attractive or competitively-priced services."
He added that the new guidelines would help to achieve this, and the IDA would encourage telcos to provide no-frills services with shorter contract terms.
StarHub said that "we are prepared to implement IDA's new guidelines", while Mobile- One (M1) and SingTel said they would be reviewing and studying the guidelines.
As IDA could take action against non-compliance, the telcos will probably adopt the guidelines, said Mr Kenneth Liew, a senior market analyst with technology-research firm IDC Asia-Pacific.
This would make it easier for consumers to switch between telcos, he said.
But Mr Marc Einstein, an industry manager with market-research firm Frost & Sullivan, said that while prices of plans could drop further with competition, the prices of the hardware tied to the plans, like mobile phones, may go up.
This is because operators would be less willing to subsidise the costs of the devices as they will have to bear an increased risk of losing customers, he said.
Auditor Aaron Chua, 24, said that IDA's move is good as consumers unhappy with a telco's services can now switch telcos more easily, without worrying about fixed early-termination fees.
But entrepreneur Darryl Kang, 29, said that the guidelines would not make much difference to him.
He would not hesitate to pay a high termination charge of up to $400, if he did not like a telco's service.
"It's down to the price of the plans and service quality for me," he said.

After reading this article, I do not see any help at all.

In fact they should look into one of their terms and conditions regarding the mobile plans that were offered for iphone.

Why in a world should a customer who has paid more for those plans as compared to the normal cheaper plans, be slammed with a higher re-contract penalty. I'm not even talking about a termination penalty, it's a re-contract - meaning I'm staying with them longer and letting them earn my dollar. Yet, I have to pay more to re-contract?! I

understood that Singtel might have done that earlier since they had the advantage to monopolise the market with their iPhone but now all 3 telcos are offering iPhones, shouldn't they eliminated that ridiculous rule and find ways to retain current customers and not throw them in a corner to rot once they've signed up for their service.

Tsk! Tsk!

IDA should look into this as I don't see why only iPhones get this penalty. It's still a phone like every other brand in the market. Its silly, really! I paid so much less for my powervalue 100 plan and almost double for my smart surf, yet their penalty for recontract for a plan costing $29.90 as $100 and a plan that cost $38 as $200?! LMAO! So if a person pay them $500 a month for their services, should you revise their penalty to like $300 or $400???

Keep your bags organised

Yesterday was what's in my shopping cart.. today is what's in my shopping bag! ^.^

I always hate it when I have to open my bag and a whole load of mess greets me.

So I decided to get a bag organiser.

This one is quite small and it's preferably for small bags but I suppose you can still use it for bigger bags. Most of the time, we're ransacking for the little stuff so it's good enough.

Ta nah! So much better. ^.^

There are more items to show but I'm too tired now as someone was creating some war early in the morning and I'm drained of energy now. >.< I will post them up slowly day by day and hopefully put up my pictures from Shanghai. I just posted them on facebook and I could barely keep my eyes open already.. I will do it, I will I will....

Shopping Cart Time

What is in my shopping cart?

The apple earphones with remote and microphone. I only realise the difference with the earphones from my ipod touch and those from the 3GS were world's apart. I got my iphone second hand, so as a rule of thumb, I do not use the earphones used by others. Hence, I used my iPod touch ones instead. The ones that came with the 3G version were the stereo earphones with mic. Since I never tried it, I shall not comment on that one. I'm not particular with earphones but the apple earphones are acceptable for me. However, the 3GS ones seem to have added some boomz as how priz low would say it, LOL! Watever.. I just ordered these online and hopefully they're not too bad. I had my fair share of receiving bad stuff online but if you've shopped online before, you know it's hard to stop. Not to mention, the good deals you can find! ^.^

So I can't wait to get these and possibily let my iPod earphones retire.. they've been working hard for me. =)

CNY is round the corner but somehow I still don't think I have proper clothes for it. Although I have one red and one white t-shirt and a pair of new jeans.. OH! not forgetting a pair of new shoes I ordered from EBay. It's really pretty on picture and I can't wait to get it!! ^.^ Still, it doesn't feel satisfying.. WHY?!?! sigh~ I might just drop by Far East one day and grab 1 or 2 more colourful t-shirts.

Survived Shanghai... well almost

我回來了！！

After a week in Shanghai, I'm finally back! I didn't really quite miss the place besides the macau egg tarts and xiao long bao. Not to mention, I almost felt sick when I was there and I brought it back with me. I knew it was a matter of time, given the dusty air and literally it's gloomy all day for a good whole week. On 1 or 2 mornings, I was lucky enough to see the sky. >.< *cough cough sneeze* I'm gonna drown myself with vitC for the next 2 days...

I will put up a post on Shanghai soon but there's not much sightseeing except for the sights of the city and shopping.. shopping more shopping. I also broke a personal record that I hope not to do it again (shall reveal that in the next post).

Ok, it seems like there's some really cute stuff coming up and has already been launched.
